Codecademy Achievements
This page is to show my new understanding of all that coding has to offer. I enjoyed getting to walking through many of the different lessons to create some pretty unthinkable tasks! I would’ve never thought I was capable of doing even the first lesson, let alone taking the first steps to making a website. What a wonderful activity to enhance and challenge your brain!
What I’ve Learned from these Courses
As I stated above, I would’ve never thought I was capable of completing the first task successfully. However, I was able to and found myself enjoying it deeply. This reminded me of an App (forgetting the name currently) on my phone that used to have daily brain games or challenges. It would sometimes be easy or more challenging. Coding through Codecademy I found to be very similar. Some of the tasks or lessons were very simple. At times, I found them so challenging that they had me stumped for sometimes an entire day. I have always blamed my mother for my stubbornness, so I always worked through the problems and never clicked on “solution”. I found myself feeling really proud when I was able to overcoming a misplaced < or </!!!! Coding also reminded me of building a puzzle. From the very beginning, it teaches us to building the outsides (or the edge pieces in puzzle terms), or at least, this is how I viewed my coding. Having the mindset helped overcoming many roadblocks or challenges. I found that many times, my mistakes were made on these “edge pieces”. After a quick fix, I was back on track, moving right alongAdditionally, something else that I have learned from these courses is that amount of appreciated that I have gained for web designers or really anyone who codes for a living. They truly speak a different language. There is so much that goes into creating .hmtl!!! Over my recent years of going to UNE, I have been in lectures as well as observing classrooms, I have seen students from ages 7 coding using Codecademy. I really thought it was such a unique experience to have this opportunity from me personally to work with Codecademy!
